Is Falcao finished at Manchester United?

Radamel Falcao's stuttering Manchester United career took a turn for the worse on Wednesday as he was left out of the team for the narrow 1-0 victory over Newcastle.

The 29-year-old has struggled to find his feet at Old Trafford since his loan move from Monaco, scoring just four goals for the club thus far in the 2014-15 campaign having arrived with a reputation as one of the top attacking stars in Europe.

Falcao has been limited to a bit-part role for the club this season, with the striker visibly baffled after being substituted during the FA Cup fifth round at Preston in February before he was then taken off after 68 minutes of the 2-0 win over Sunderland.

And at St James' Park on Wednesday, Falcao was left out of the starting XI altogether with Louis van Gaal instead opting to select Marouane Fellaini in an advanced role in support of Wayne Rooney.

With United struggling to find the breakthrough in the game having wasted a number of clear-cut chances, Van Gaal decided against bringing Falcao off the bench, with the likes of Juan Mata and Adnan Januzaj introduced instead.

Ashley Young eventually struck the winning goal with only a couple of minutes remaining, with Falcao left watching on as United boosted their chances of finishing in the top four.

So with Falcao's price set at a whopping £44 million, is it fair to say that the former Atletico Madrid striker has no hope of securing a permanent deal with Van Gaal's side?

Is Falcao effectively finished at United? With only 10 games remaining in the 2014-15 Premier League season, is there still time for the Monaco striker to make an impact?
