Real Madrid & Bayern Munich are Europe’s sharpest shooters

Goal teams up with Huawei to provide you with all of the interesting statistics Europe’s five biggest leagues have to offer in 2014-15

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are Europe’s most trigger-happy teams so far this season - both averaging over 14 shots per game - with Barcelona occupying third spot in the Huawei Team Ranking.

The reigning European champions test opponents’ goalkeepers 14.36 times per match on average, resulting in an impressive 75 goals from 359 shots in 25 games, with star man Cristiano Ronaldo responsible for 30 of those strikes.

Pep Guardiola’s men, meanwhile, closely follow in second place with 14.35 shots per game, which has helped them to 18 wins in 23 games, netting 63 goals in the process.

Barcelona take aim 13.48 times on average in La Liga, with 70 successful attempts out of a total 337 shots earning them second place in the league table following this weekend’s 3-1 away win over Granada.

Borussia Dortmund’s resurgence after the winter break has seen the Bundesliga outfit move to fourth place in the ranking with 13.30 shots per game, seeing Jurgen Klopp’s men score 31 goals so far this season in 23 games.

Fifth-placed Juventus are not afraid to go for goal either as they average 12.72 shots per game. The Serie A champions have scored 52 goals from 318 attempts in 25 matches.

Furthermore, Marseille (12.56 shots per game), Wolfsburg (12.35), Napoli (12.12), Fiorentina (12.00) Manchester City and Bayer Leverkusen (both 11.96) are among the continent’s sharpers shooters as well to complete the top 10.

Meanwhile, Evian take the fewest shots per match out of all clubs in Europe’s top five leagues in 2014-15, with the Ligue 1 side averaging just 6.27 shots per game.

Only Bastia (6.59), Parma (6.65), Hertha Berlin (6.87) and Sunderland (6.96) average below seven shots per game on average, too
